A woman who worked as a Special Educational Instructional Aide at Shadow Hills Intermediate School in Palmdale is in a bit of trouble with the law after allegedly having sex with a 13-year-old student in an empty classroom. The teacher's aide, Holly Polson is now being held on $100,000 bail and facing felony counts of lewd acts with a child, according to KTLA.
Police were notified of Polson's alleged sexual encounter with the young teen after a relative of the victim found text messages from the teacher's aide on the boy's cellphone. Authorities have stated that 35-year-old Polson confessed to the acts with the student in an interview with Sheriff's Special Victim's Bureau detectives.
NBC Los Angeles reported that the suspect in this case had been tutoring the victim on campus, both during and after school hours. Investigators said that Polson developed feelings for the victim in this case, where the two engaged in several acts of sexual intercourse over a two-week period. The student at Shadow Hills Intermediate School also confirmed the story by telling authorities that he had engaged in the sexual acts with Holly Polson on the school campus.
When the victim of lewd acts is under the age of 14, the offender can face even more severe penalties than if the child is 14 years of age or older, based on California Penal Code 288. The offense is punishable by imprisonment in the state prison for three, six, or eight years. A person may also be ordered to register as a sex offender in the state of California if convicted of such an offense.
